HOW TOWN MEETING WORKS

  1. The times and locations of Town Meetings are established by the Board of Selectmen.
  2. The warrant - business to be addressed - is also prepared, posted, and distributed by the Board of Selectmen.
  3. The motions of the warrant are made available to Town Meeting Members upon arrival to the Town Meeting or they can be obtained from Board of Selectmen in advance.
  4. Town Meeting requires a quorum of at least a simple majority -- one more than half the total number of elected Town Meeting Members.
  5. Town Meeting members that are unable to attend a meeting should contact the Town Clerk to request to be excused prior to the meeting.
  6. Town Meetings are brought to order, run by, and dismissed by the Moderator.
