Utility Work on South Prospect Street, my trees trimmed

I came home from work today to find a few of my trees had been pruned by the power company’s contactors.  The tree in the middle had all its branches towards the street removed and the tree with the red leaves had a chunk cut out of it.  I was notified four months ago that [...]

Patrick praises Route 2 work

RECORDER  |  Too often government focuses on the short-term, like the next election or the next news cycle, Gov. Deval Patrick told a crowd of local officials and sixth- graders gathered in Town Hall on Monday morning. But funding Route 2 safety improvements is an example of governing with an eye toward the future, he [...]

Paving completed on RT47

Around 6 o’clock yesterday morning when I began my commute, the road crew out on 47 was still setting up their cones, not even starting to work.  On my way back home, just before 5 o’clock pm, they had finished laying the new asphault and were picking up their cones. Good work, gentlemen.

Street sweepers have come and gone

The town finally sent their fleet of street sweepers up South Prospect Street and removed the 3-4 inch tall mounds of sand that had formed thanks to the rain washing down the hill.  About two months ago I removed the sand from my side of the road, but thanks to various storms, I thought I’d have [...]

2010 Winter Sand removal

Today I picked up a new transfer shovel at the Home Depot.  There were other chores to do inside, but the day was too nice not to be outside and playing in the dirt.  I ended up removing six wheelbarrows full of sand from the road and dumping in my secondary compost pile.

Williams Way, closed

TURNERS FALLS, MA – Working in Springfield doesn’t give me much of a chance to catch things when they happen.  I had wanted to catch the town in the act of blocking off the street, but that was a while ago and yesterday was the first time since the road was blocked I made it [...]
