I haven’t received my Town Meeting packet yet, but at the Town Hall today I saw the warrant posting for a special town meeting on April 4th at 7pm.
There are 12 items on the docket, mostly house keeping in preparation for the annual meeting on May 5th. With the exception of one article, I think the meeting should go smoothly.
Article 9 is asking for $25k to remove the oil tank and extend the water line to make the building ready for a buyer. I can see a long debate over this, people are sick of sinking
money into this property. I say lower the selling price and have the buyer haul it away or give them a tax break on top of the deal I’m sure they’ve already worked out.
I’m also interested in learning more about Article 6, which requests $9k for the Town Clerk to preserve records from 1754 to 1925. Unless this is for digital record creation, why were they preserved already?
I’ll be sure to post the background information as well as any supporting information the Town Clerk sends when I receive the packet.
